EMR (Electronic Medical Records) Software For Greater Medical Office Efficiency

January 3rd, 2010

ffices require a lot of efficiency to ensure that all patients are properly taken care of. Every such facility is a busy area where employing multiple people to do one job is a waste of time, money and resources. It will eat away at the revenues of small businesses and will increase running costs. This is particularly true when it comes to maintaining medical records. It is a data intensive job that needs a lot of accuracy and time to do by hand. Sometimes, errors are introduced into the data due to human negligence, which is inevitable.

This is why you should use EMR software that takes care of data handling and free up the time of your employees so that they can work more efficiently. By freeing your employees of records maintenance tasks, you can greatly boost the amount of work that gets done. It will also help you provide a better medical service to your clients and hence increases the amount of business that you are getting. Your clients will greatly appreciate getting improved medical care and your reputation will be better recognized.

Using EMR software makes a lot of business sense because you will be saving money in the long run. When you automate certain processes, you will be saving a lot of money due to lower operation and maintenance costs. Your record keeping will be much more streamlined and thus client information processing and recalling will only take a fraction of the time.

The efficient billing software also keeps track of all the due and overdue payments. It will automatically remind your patients about their dues with you. You can send invoices just like you did before, but with much more efficiency and ease.

A good EMR software will lead to efficient management on your part. Everyone has access to updated data and treatment plans. In addition, not having to manage and manipulate data manually usually means that your staff will be happier and more motivated – thus ensuring a lower staff turnover, which is important for any successful medical practice.

In the beginning, it takes a little time to get used to the system. However, professional grade software often comes with adequate support. Within a short period of time, you and your staff would have gotten used to operating the new software. With EMR software, your record keeping becomes so much more efficient and organized that you will start wondering why you did not start using it sooner.

You may also market your facility as environmentally friendly by using these software. You can legitimately do that because you will be using less paper or no paper at all. This will help you reduce your carbon footprint greatly and introduce a much more efficient record keeping system without damaging the environment. People have become more environmentally conscious in recent times and this will ensure a greater amount of client recognition and respect.

Thus, by choosing to streamline and organize your entire record keeping and billing process, you will not only be helping your business but also your customers and the environment.

Environmental Measures and Common Sense

December 14th, 2009

Readers of my regular articles will know that I always advocate environmentally friendly measures and it is becoming increasingly clear that these measures are becoming the norm rather that the exception.

Measure 1 – I drive a Hybrid car – Not only does this car give me a good miles per gallon figure, it is comfortable, I pay only £15 per year road tax and I am exempt from congestion charges;

Measure 2 – By reducing my speed from 70 to 65 miles per hour, I have found that I now get between 55-60 miles per gallon. With fuel cost now becoming a significant expense this is a considerable saving.

Measure 3 – By reducing the thermostat by one to two degrees my heating bill will be reduced; it may not offset the huge rises in energy costs but it must go part way.

Measure 4 – I now turn off lights that are really not needed during the day; I open the blinds to let in natural daylight. The savings may not be great but contribute to then overall saving even with energy saving lighting.

Measure 5 – No equipment is left on standby; to do so would be wasting energy and money.

Measure 6 – If I feel cold; I put on a jumper rather than turning up the heat; I am often staggered to see people in summer clothes complaining about feeling chilly. » Read more: Environmental Measures and Common Sense

Bean to cup coffee machine expert, Strong Vend launches new in-house Environmental Management System

August 12th, 2009

In line with Strong Vend’s new energy efficiency policy, the bean to cup coffee machine and automatic vending supplier has introduced a new environmental management system to reduce its carbon footprint.

LONDON, UK- The new environmental system, which will be integrated across every aspect of Strong Vend’s operation, aims to reduce the environmental impact Strong Vend’s business activities have on the Earth whilst saving money, which can, in turn, be ploughed into more energy-saving initiatives and strategies.

The new system’s core aims are as follows:

· Pollution Prevention – Cutting pollution across all areas of business active

· Fostering Recycling – Introduce recycling systems both in office and throughout Strong Vend’s warehouse.

· Energy Conservation – Reduce our energy usage across all energy forms, curtailing all unnecessary energy use.

· Expand our range green products – Help our clients help the environment by providing them with more recyclable and green products for their vending and coffee machines.

The bean to cup coffee machine specialist aims to meet the following targets over the next year:

· Reduce company waste to landfill by 20%

· Introduce companywide recycling systems

· Reduce company energy consumption by 18%

· Raise awareness of environmental issues amongst staff and clients alike

Strong Vend aims to achieve these targets through various methods. Firstly all Strong Vend premises will be fitted with energy efficient lighting. Each energy efficient light bulb can save up to £60 in energy costs across its lifetime and last, on average, three times longer than ordinary light bulbs.

Secondly, a recycling system for plastics, metals (such as drinks cans) and paper and card (including Strong Vend’s own fully recyclable coffee machine cups) will be implemented across all Strong Vend premises, including offices and warehouses. Considering the amount of Strong Vend vending and coffee machine stock which arrives in cardboard boxes, recycling these alone will amount to nearly a 20% company reduction in waste to landfill.

Finally, all Strong Vend staff will undergo a programme of in-house energy efficiency training to highlight how, through diligence, individual team members can make a difference:

· By switching off computer monitors at the end of the day, not just leaving them on stand-by.

· By shutting off lights and taking a few moments to check all monitors are switched off in the event of being the last team member in the office at the end of the day

· By ensuring paper and card, metal and plastics are separated from food items and are placed into in-office recycling bins rather than thrown away with general waste

· By, where possible, sharing lifts to and from work (or carpooling)

The new Environmental Management System is being run in accordance with the requirements contained within ISO:14001 and Strong Vend aims to be fully accredited within a year. Strong Vend takes environmental and ethical concerns very seriously- do you?
